Welcome to Icelandic Museum Rock & Roll

About the Museum

Many people know Icelandic artists such as The Sugarcubes, Björk, Sigur Rós and Of Monsters and Men. What’s their story? What’s their background? And how did these bands become so successful coming from the tiny population of Iceland? At the Icelandic Museum of Rock ‘n’ Roll you can walk through the history of Icelandic pop and rock music throughout the years. Guests can dive deeper into the history of each artist and listen to their music with the help of the Rock ‘n’ Roll app on the iPads guests receive during the visit. And don’t forget to check out our Sound Lab where you can sing your heart out in our custom made karaoke booth or try an electric drumkit, guitar and bass and feel like a real rocker!

The Icelandic Rock ‘n’ Roll Shop and Café

In our shop we sell all kinds of Icelandic music related merchandise. Get rockin’ in our Icelandic Museum of Rock 'n' Roll T-shirts or check out the newest music releases by Björk, Sigur Rós and many more. If you feel like going the extra mile and want to become an expert we also sell books and documentaries about Icelandic music. In the museum you can sit down, listen to music and have a cup of coffee… or tea.. or hot chocolate, whichever sounds good to you. Our coffee comes from Kaffitár a local roasterie, specializing in importing, roasting and serving the finest Arabica coffee beans.
