The exhibition on Björgvin Halldórsson, Þó líði ár og öld, covers his entire career in its full diversity. As most people know, Björgvin has been one of Iceland‘s most beloved singer for decades and he has performed with bands such as Bendix, Flowers, Ævintýri, Hljómar, Brimkló, Change, HLH flokkurinn, Ðe lónlí blú bojs and many more.
Throughout his career, Björgvin has also worked with music and media in a number of other ways. Thus he has worked with marketing at the advertising bureau Íslenska auglýsingastofan, as manager of the radio channels Stjarnan and Bylgjan, and as a producer and manager at the TV channel Bíórásin. He has also been the voice of the TV channel Stöð 2 for a number of years. Furthermore, Björgvin has taken on the role of publisher and record producer, and at one stage he was the director of marketing at the Broadway club. In addition, he has been a leading figure in various musicians‘ organizations.
The exhibition deals with a number of Björgvin‘s many sides and presents them with the aid of modern technology. Here, Björgvin tells us stories from his career and others tell stories about him. Björgvin is an avid collector and the exhibition displays a number of items that he has kept from his career or received from his colleagues. This includes a part of his guitar collection, posters from his first concert until the present day, gold records, lyrics sheets, countless photos and videos, and plenty more. The planning of this exhibition took nearly a full year and the end result is stunning!
